New registration requirements for inverter-based resources (IBRs) that lower the threshold for IBR facilities that need to be registered with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) are going into effect. This Talk with Texas RE will cover the registration process and the Reliability Standards that IBR facilities will need to be compliant with by May 15, 2026, and beyond.

Talk with Texas RE: TPL-008 - November 13, 2025

Transmission System Planning Performance Requirements for Extreme Temperature Events (TPL-008) is a NERC Reliability Standard intended to establish transmission system planning performance requirements for the Bulk Power System (BPS) that will operate during extreme heat and cold temperature events. Guest speaker Sun Wook Kang from Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) will discuss this Reliability Standard and how it serves electric reliability in the Texas Interconnection.

Securing Together: ISAC and Industry Collaboration for National Resilience - December 2, 2025

Information Sharing and Analysis Centers (ISACs) are an important component of critical infrastructure protection across a range of sectors in the economy. Texas RE will host a forum for various ISAC organizations, including the Electricity Information Sharing and Analysis Center (E-ISAC) to discuss their shared mission as it pertain to cybersecurity incident response and reporting.

BES Protection System Misoperation Reduction Workshop - October 7-8

NERC is hosting the third annual BES Protection System Misoperation Reduction Workshop on October 7-8, 2025, in St. Paul, MN. Building on the success of the previous BES Protection System Misoperation Reduction Workshops, this year’s workshop will include presentations on the leading causes of Protection System Misoperations and mitigating actions taken by entities to reduce misoperations.
