On June 16, 2025, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed House Bill 150 into law, officially creating the Texas Cyber Command. The new agency headquartered in San Antonio will be the largest state-based cybersecurity agency in the United States and will aim to prevent, respond to, and recover from cyber threats targeting government and critical infrastructure systems.
The Texas Cyber Command will establish a cyber threat intelligence center focused on creating a gold standard for cybersecurity by identifying vulnerabilities and supporting cyber hygiene across state and local entities. It will also serve as a central hub for collaboration with federal and military cybersecurity partners.
Texas RE encourages registered entities to review House Bill 150 and any additional information from the Texas Cyber Command that may impact the Bulk Electric System.
