Texas RE at PUCT Open Meeting

On July 25, 2024, Texas RE Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Joseph Younger, and Director of Reliability Services David Penney appeared before the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) to share information from Texas RE’s recently published 2023 Reliability Performance and Regional Risk Assessment.

The 2023 Reliability Performance and Regional Risk Assessment is an independent report on the Texas Interconnection that focuses on the reliability and security of the Bulk Power System (BPS). The report gathers data from within the Region and uses it to identify and track known and emerging risks to electric reliability.

Penney gave a brief overview of key metrics in the report, including areas of improvement for the Region such as resource weatherization and primary frequency response, static trends such as resiliency, and areas of concern such as solar down-ramp periods that he mentioned ERCOT was taking steps to address.

Texas RE thanks the PUCT for the opportunity to present this important electric reliability information. The full report is available here.
