Essential Job Duties

The Risk Assessment Engineer supports compliance monitoring through the development and implementation of risk assessment methodologies, processes, and tools. This position has significant contact with registered entities in the review and assessment of risk posed by entities to the Bulk Power System. The Risk Assessment Engineer ensures the consistency and accuracy of information obtained and prepares information and reports, as needed, for NERC, FERC, and Texas RE's Board. The Risk Assessment Engineer reports to the Risk Assessment Manager.

  • Conducts risk assessments required for compliance oversight

  • Performs, as subject matter expert, duties associated with risk determination and review of risk-related reliability issues

  • Participates in establishing entity risk, provides input for developing risk assessment methodology, determining risk assessments and collaboration discussions

  • Leads in the development and updating of Regional risk and compliance programs jointly with other staff, NERC and other Regional Entity staff

  • Ensures that risk-based processes are fair, valid, address reliability concerns, and can be administered consistently

  • Leads in the development, maintenance, and performance of processes that track and incorporate internal controls, Areas of Concern and Recommendations determined during compliance assessments

  • Communicates risk assessment program requirements to NERC Registered Entities through presentations at informational meetings, website postings, and other means

  • Reviews postings of NERC standards, policies and related material for impact on the risk assessment program, and support activity involving NERC groups

  • Uses computer systems and various data sources to obtain logs, real time information, operational records and other data for risk assessment needs

  • Maintains working knowledge of databases, SharePoint, OSI PI software, and other data systems

  • Develops reports and presentations on activities, findings and needs of the department. Represents Texas RE in task groups

  • Develops project requests and interfaces with other groups to implement and track progress on projects needed by the department

  • Provides strong, honest and effective two-way communication within and beyond Texas RE

  • Leads in the development of a consultation and feedback process about risks within and beyond Texas RE

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Essential Job Duties

The Compliance Engineer/Analyst performs NERC Reliability Standard compliance engagements and other compliance program activities. The position is expected to develop expertise in the areas of the electrical power industry, professional auditing, and risk-based compliance processes.

The Compliance Engineer/Analyst prepares and performs engagements to evaluate NERC registered entities for compliance with the NERC Reliability Standards.  This position has significant contact with personnel who manage, operate, plan, and oversee generation, transmission, distribution, and physical/cyber security.  The Compliance Engineer/Analyst ensures information obtained is consistent and accurate for preparing documentation and reports for the engaged NERC registered entity, NERC, FERC, Texas RE management and the Texas RE Board, as directed. 

The Compliance Engineer/Analyst works independently and in a collaborative team environment while reporting to the Manager, O&P Compliance Monitoring.

The Compliance Engineer/Analyst is also responsible for assisting with efforts to compose guidance, respond to registered entity questions, and provide outreach and training.

Job Duties

  • Plans, supports, and conducts compliance engagements of NERC registered entities

  • Evaluates registered entity internal controls and provides feedback to the registered entities and internal groups on mitigation of identified risks through the developed controls

  • Develops accurate, concise reports and presentations, as directed, on engagements, activities, findings, and needs of the program for Texas RE, registered entities (where applicable), and NERC

  • Maintains confidentiality of evidence, findings, reports, and any other records

  • Collaborates with NERC and other Regional Entities through participation in NERC working groups/task forces as assigned

  • Communicates expectations and best practices to NERC registered entities through presentations and written communication

  • Reviews changes to NERC Reliability Standards, Compliance Guidance, policies, and related material for impact on the risk-based compliance program

  • Utilizes computer systems to obtain logs, real time information, operational records and other data for performing compliance monitoring activities and informing risk-based compliance processes. Processes collected data as necessary for risk-based compliance monitoring and assessment. Perform statistical, logical, or other mathematical analysis as needed

  • Ensures procedures, templates, and other risk-based compliance monitoring materials are maintained and up to date, and that staff is aware of any approved changes

  • Develops project requests and interfaces with other groups to implement and track progress on projects needed by the department

  • Works independently, productively and follows through on all responsibilities to bring projects to a successful conclusion

Texas Reliability Entity, Inc. (Texas RE) is hiring a Network Administrator! Texas RE employees work a hybrid work schedule consisting of at least two days in the office with the option of working up to three days remotely. Additional in-office work may be required depending on project scopes. Summary of Responsibilities

The Network Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting the network infrastructure. This position implements new technologies, makes improvements to network systems, documents configurations, issues and resolutions, and creates desk procedures to manage and maintain these systems. The Network Administrator assists in Data Center design, implementation, and management, including network equipment, firewalls and IDS/IPS appliances. This position provides technical support to end users both onsite and working remotely. This position assists security staff when needed and upholds and enforces Texas RE security and acceptable use policies. This position reports to the Director, IT Infrastructure and Physical and Cybersecurity.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other technical discipline field of study or six years applicable experience

  • Ability to plan, support, install and manage network equipment, network segments, firewall and networking devices as a subject matter expert.

Essential Job Duties

  • Lead the implementation and management of all network segments, firewalls, and networking devices.

  • Lead the management of external DNS and Public Certificate Services.

  • Lead the management of Unified Communication systems.

  • Analyze network system logs and tracks the and resolution of issues.
