Inverter-Based Resources (IBR) comprise an increasingly large segment of the resource mix in North America and Texas in particular. Over the past several years, the Electric Reliability Organization (ERO) Enterprise has tracked several large-scale disturbances that have led to widespread loss of IBR. The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) is currently developing new and revised Reliability Standards to address the concerns of IBR tripping offline during grid disturbances. This presentation will discuss these anticipated changes, the IBR Registration Initiative, expected timelines, and how the ERO Enterprise proposes to address challenges associated with integration of more IBR onto the bulk power system.
